Get to know Board member Brad Johnson

Dr. Brad Johnson is Board Vice President at the Center of Hope. We asked Brad to share some of his thoughts about the Center and his time on the Board.
Why did you choose to join the Board?
I was asked many years ago to serve on the board by a fellow physician. He thought I would have some insight as a physician and as a parent since I had a daughter with special needs.
What would you say to a prospective Board member?
The Center provides a wonderful environment to those with special needs that are no longer in the school system. The Center gives these individuals a purpose and helps them to continue to grow and develop instead of just sitting at home. I have told several people that our daughter has never complained about going to “work” (that is what she calls going to the Center). This is due to the wonderful staff at the Center who provide the services these individuals require.
What is the biggest change you’ve seen over the years?
Adequate funding has always been and continues to be a challenge. I hope that over the years more people appreciate the important service that the Center provides to the individuals who attend the Center.  We are currently in the process of trying to improve our physical facility to help better serve and accommodate all our participants. This fundraiser is important to help the center reach the goal of making the many improvements that are needed. There will be more details in the near future.
What keeps you on the Board?
When I walk around the Center and see how the wonderful staff interacts with each participant, each with their own individual needs, I know I want to help the Center to be able to provide the great quality of services to these special individuals in a safe and appropriate environment to help them each reach their own potential.
Anything else you’d like us to know?
If anyone is interested in learning more about the center and the important services that are provided to individuals with special needs please feel free to contact the center.
