Meet Audrey Tiffin

Audrey is the recreational coordinator at the Center of Hope. She has been at the Center for one year but has been in the field 11 years. We asked Audrey to share some of her thoughts about the time she has been at the Center.
Please describe your role at the center. I plan events/parties, teach classes, and schedule fun outings for the participants to enjoy.
Why did you choose this field? I applied as a direct support professional at another facility 11 years ago not knowing what to expect and I instantly fell in love with the field. It gives me a sense of purpose knowing I am contributing to the well-being and quality of life to the participants we serve.
What advice would you give someone who is interested in working at the Center? We are all here, because we all have a passion for helping others. If you don’t share that passion this really isn’t the place for you.
What is the biggest change you’ve seen over the years? When I first started a lot of participants were shy/timid and didn’t really want to participant in events, let alone events that put a spotlight on them. Now, I have countless participants asking me when another event is happening so they can they can show off their talents or participate in the fun!
What keeps you at the Center? That’s simple. I love my job!
