March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. Throughout the month, we highlight how people with and without disabilities come together to form strong communities. It’s a time to explore the work we still need to do to remove barriers for individuals with developmental disabilities. On a local level, Pam Carey, executive director at the Barbara Olson Center of Hope had this to say, “Developmental Disabilities Awareness month is to recognize that all individuals are a part of every community in society and have the same choices for independence and the ability to navigate their own lives in the manner they choose.”
She went on to say, “At the Center of Hope we make it a top priority that all individuals served have personal choice to discover their communities and the endless opportunities available to them.”
