Meet Vickey Alexander
Vickey Alexander is a Lead Job Coach at the Center of Hope and has been on the staff for 14 years. We asked Vickey to share some of her thoughts about the Center.
Please describe your role at the Center. I am currently a Lead Job Coach but have held many positions in the past including as the OT Clinic Coordinator. I wear many hats and a favorite job is that I love being a second “handyman” here for the staff.
Why did you choose this field? I have worked in the medical field for many years and it eventually evolved towards persons with developmental disabilities. Working with Tess Oster, our previous OT, helped me to grow in some amazing areas.
What advice would you give someone who is interested in working at the Center? Be FLEXIBLE, give your input (it matters) and appreciate what we have to offer.
What is the biggest change you’ve seen over the years? We have really given the participants a lot more responsibility and autonomy. I love that they are treated with the respect that they deserve.
What keeps you at the Center? The participants and staff.
Anything else you’d like us to know? I really like chocolate.
