Meet Stacey Dibble

Stacey Dibble is a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and has been at the Center for eight years. We asked Stacey to share some of her thoughts about the time she has been at the Center.
Please describe your role at the Center.
I have enjoyed doing many jobs that have been offered to me. I started as a DSP Aide in Workshop. From there I became a DSP over Workshop. After a few years in that spot I became the DSP over Sensory One. During the midst of the pandemic I visited participants in their home settings, taught Zoom classes for virtual day services, and provided PSW services as well. These days I help participants to achieve their hopes and goals in Room 13 and in the community. We enjoy doing art projects, cultural arts, motor skills, sensory activities and many other activities.
Why did you choose this field?
I began working in this field at a very young age. I was introduced into it by my mother who works as a para at my local high school. When I was old enough to hold a job, I would go to my mother’s student’s homes to help with respite care. As I got older I began working in group homes and from there I found the Center of Hope.
What advice would you give someone who is interested in working at the Center?
I would tell someone who is thinking about working at the Center that it is the most fulfilling and rewarding job you will ever have. It is impossible not to come to work every day and have a good day. The participants are an absolute joy to work with and make you feel like a super star every day!
What is the biggest change you’ve seen over the years?
The biggest changes I’ve seen at the Center over the years is the growth of activities and classes we are able to provide the participants. There are so many amazing classes from plants to cooking to choir and many more! Also, the wonderful addition of a Sensory Room and Smart Boards for classroom use!
What keeps you at the Center?
The Center of Hope has become my family and home away from my own. It is truly a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful team and work with so many special individuals.
