Out and About

Summer is a great time for for ice cream, park visits, bowling and flower picking. Each week, the participants at the Center go out into the community. Outings are important for our participants for many reasons; to experience all their community has to offer and to work on different social and independent living skills. At the same time, they educate the community about people with disabilities.

“A lot of people don’t get the opportunity to meet or interact with people who have disabilities,” said Kelley Peterson, director of participant services. She then added, “So I think it is a good learning experience for the community to learn about people who have different challenges than they may have.”
