LaVonda Timm sits on the Board of Directors at the Center of Hope. We asked LaVonda to share some of her thoughts about the Center and her time on the Board.
How long have you been a board member? I have been on the Board since the early 2000s. My son Mark started attending the Center after graduating from the public school system.
Why did you choose to join the Board? Carm, the former executive director approached me about becoming a board member and since I wanted to be involved in everything pertaining to my son and to help the Center become what it is today, I was honored to say yes.
What would you say to a prospective board member? I would tell them the Center of Hope is a great place for adults with disabilities to go and continue to develop their strengths, whether it be working in the community or just working on their social skills at the Center. With our help we can continue in helping them achieve their goals.
What is the biggest change you’ve seen since joining the board? I really can’t say I have seen any big changes, due to having such a dedicated staff and board members who continue to help our adults with disabilities.
What keeps you on the board? I love helping people. To watch how our adults at the Center blossom over the years fills my heart with pride. They are all our children and we want the best for them.
