Cole Winsett is Board Treasurer at the Center of Hope. We asked Cole to share some of his thoughts about the Center and his time on the Board.
How long have you been a board member? I joined the Center of Hope board in 2020 and became treasurer in the last couple of years.
Please Describe your role as Treasurer. I work closely with the organization’s management and other board members to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the Center of Hope.
What would you say to a prospective board member? It’s such an exciting time to serve on the board at the Center of Hope. The board is a blend of participant family members and business professionals, all united by the common objective of securing a bright future for the Center of Hope.
What is the biggest change you’ve seen since joining the board? Aside from the parking lot, the board has changed quite a bit. Historically, board members at the Center of Hope tend to serve long terms, resulting in low turnover. However, in recent years, a number of board members have retired or moved on to other pursuits. Fortunately, we’ve been able to replace their expertise through recommendations and referrals.
What keeps you on the board? The Center of Hope has been a part of my entire life. I grew up just down the street and would ride my bike in the parking lot (would be a much nicer ride now!). My grandparents lived around the corner, later moving across the street. My sister, Kendra, has been a participant at the COH for more than 20 years. The Center of Hope provides an invaluable service, which enabled our family to live life knowing that Kendra was safe and cared for. From drop-off to pick-up, Rock for the Center, Gala’s and probably being GourMutts biggest customer, the Center of Hope is as much a part of my life as anything.
Anything else you’d like us to know? The Center of Hope has exceptional staff, from Pam and her leadership team, to Qs and DSPs and everyone in between. As a board member and brother to a participant, I am eternally grateful for each of you.
