Support Businesses

Super Shredders

Super Shredders, a division of Barbara Olson Center of Hope, is an off-site confidential document destruction service. Businesses produce extraordinary amounts of paper documents that are often thought of as “just trash”. We are in business to prevent the very real threat of identity theft, loss of business confidentiality, and investigator “dumpster diving”. Super Shredders will pick up and securely transport your documents to our facility at the Barbara Olson Center of Hope. We serve businesses as well as personal customers.

  • Shredding of sensitive and confidential papers
  • Bonded and secure facility
  • 24-hour closed circuit TV monitoring
  • Locked office containers for accumulation of documents for pickup
  • Destruction verification letter provided
  • Able to handle thousands of pounds per day
  • Large office clean outs
  • Save on in-house labor and increase your security
  • Recycling of cardboard, aluminum, and other materials

This project was partially funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Bureau of Energy and Recycling.

Moments Remembered

The Moments Remembered department specializes in dried flower arrangements. We will take your flowers from whatever special event may come up, dry them and make a beautiful wreath or ceramic pot filled with your dried flowers so that you will have the flowers to enjoy for a long time.

CES (Community Employment Services)

Hire a participant of the Barbara Olson Center of Hope and make a positive impact on your bottom line and in the life of an individual with developmental disabilities.

The United States Chamber of Commerce and General Accounting Office report the following:

  • Workers with disabilities are above average in performance, attendance and safety.
  • The work ethic of employees with disabilities has a positive effect on the morale and productivity of their colleagues.
  • People with disabilities have over $220 billion in spending power
  • The disability community responds positively to companies who are sensitive to their needs and interest.

We partner with you to ensure mutual success by:

  • Training the individuals you hire. An on-site job coach will accompany the participant for as long as you deem necessary.
  • Providing ongoing support to you and the individual.
  • Communicating with you on a regular basis to monitor progress and address any issues that may come up.

Benefits of hiring a Center of Hope participant:

  • Cost effective employee to handle the “extra” tasks that never seem to get done.
  • Participants are flexible in the number of hours they can work. A typical work week is 10-20 hours.
  • We provide training through an on-site job coach for as long as necessary
  • Participants are highly reliable, motivated and eager to work.
  • You may qualify for tax incentives.
  • We may help you meet Affirmative Action compliance requirements.

The Volunteer Center

The Volunteer Center continuously seeks new ways for our participants to help out the community. Our team of volunteers is able to do things at our location, or yours if needed. If you have a “job” or “task” for us, or would just like more information, please contact Pam Sondell at psondell@b-olsoncenterofhope.org or call her at (815)-964-9275 Ext. 266

GourMutts

The idea to make all-natural dog biscuits was developed as an alternative project for participants to do when no paid work was available. Some of these biscuits were taken to a craft show in which the Center of Hope was participating. The biscuits sold out quickly, and a plan was developed to begin a business which would respond to the market demands. Contact us and buy some buscuits for man's best friend.

For more information on ordering GourMutts Dog Biscuits, please contact Mike Marvell at mmarvell@b-olsoncenterofhope.org or call (815)-964-9275 Ext. 244. You may also visit our website at www.gourmutts.org.
